Line is a brand steeped in irreverence, sticking out its tongue at The Man between pulls on the bong. Don’t buy the hype, but do buy its skis, for Line is a technical ski maker with serious chops. The Supernatural 100 is a directional ski with modest tip and tail rocker coupled with traditional construction elements like a full sheet of Titanal over a maple/aspen core. Its multi-radius sidecut takes over the instant it’s tipped on edge, pulling the skier into its arc as if guided by a tractor-beam.
While our test panel found the Supernatural 100 to be perfectly balanced between Power and Finesse attributes, the Finesse side of its personality dominates when skied at low speeds while its Power traits don’t reveal themselves unless the pilot applies the lash. The Supernatural 100’s ability to adapt to the moods of its master makes it particularly suited to the Finesse skier. Its preference for off-piste terrain is signaled by its gradual “5-Cut™” shape that’s made to drift and carve in roughly equal measures. The glass in its structure provides energy and the Titanal delivers dampening, improved edge grip and better control when churning through heavy snow that would deflect a lesser ski.
Ready to begin carving at a low edge angle, the Supernatural 100 doesn’t require expert skills to enjoy. As Michael from Footloose noted a couple of seasons ago, “it’s fun, stable and responsive. Can do quick turns in the chutes, carve on edge or straight line. Might be the best ski in the category.” For its cool, calm and collected composure in off-piste conditions, we award the Supernatural 100 a Silver Skier Selection.
