What personal data we collect and why we collect it
Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information
Certain visitors to Realskiers’s websites choose to interact with Realskiers in ways that require Realskiers to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Realskiers gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who sign up for a newletter or membership at https://realskiers.com to provide a username and email address.
Membership
We collect your email, username, first and last names and optionally your location information when you sign up for a membership. We also request payment via credit card or Paypal, but at no time is any of your payment information retained on our website or server. All payment details are handled as per PCI-DSS regulatory requirements and we maintain the highest levels of security standards to protect the information at all time. We use Paypal and Stripe to process cards and each has privacy policies that explain their systems in depth.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
We use very simple contact forms on our site. All forms simply forward the requested information, including your name, your email address needed for a response and a subject line. Any info you enter into a form is promptly sent via email and no data is retained on our servers.
