The Scale Beta isn’t very different from the Laser AX in terms of shape or sidecut radius, but it’s a mellower ski by many orders of magnitude. It’s as though the Laser AX were made for military use and the Scale Beta serves the same purpose for civilians. The Beta works best when it’s not being pushed out of its comfort zone by high speeds or off-trail conditions; the Laser AX is never out of its comfort zone.
In sum, the Beta behaves like a Laser for the lighter, less aggressive skier who’s more likely to spend the day cruising groomers than chasing the last bit of off-trail powder.
