When skiers think of off-piste terrain, the first, and often only, thing they contemplate is powder. This despite the fact that uncut powder is the least likely off-trail condition to encounter. Far more prevalent are moguls, tree skiing and of course, crud, the residue left when the fresh stuff is gone. The Mindbender 99Ti loves it all. Its rockered baseline is simple to swivel around any obstacle and an extra dose of elevation underfoot called Powerwall gives it enough bite to hold its line on hard snow.
In keeping with a K2 tradition, the Mindbender 99Ti’s dominant trait is its overall ease of operation. It’s go-to turn is a medium-radius affair with a little drift at either end. Its tapered and rockered tip isn’t made to hook up early, and its torsionally soft tail holds the bottom of the arc like it was a wounded bird. These traits make the 99Ti a better soft snow ski and also enable it to swivel in tight spaces like trees or bumps. If you own a Mindbender 99Ti, you might as well ditch the trail map since you won’t be skiing on groomers any more.
