The 3D.Ridge design puts any ski it’s applied to on a crash diet, making this svelte construction better adapted to men than women. With only a carbon stringer for reinforcement – compared to two sheets of Titanal in sister ski Aura – and a wafer-thin core thickness along must of its baseline, the 90EIGHT W is torsionally soft, so it doesn’t feel as wide as it measures when you roll it up on edge.
The 90EIGHT W’s most obvious attribute is something it’s missing: mass. The 3D.Ridge shape pares away a lot of material along the ski’s perimeter, creating a noticeably lighter, more maneuverable model than is the norm in women’s models this wide. Its rockered tip and tail is also tapered, clearly favoring the off-trail side of the on-trail/off-trail ledger. The dab of camber underfoot is enough to keep the 90EIGHTW on course on groomers, but it reserves its best behavior for powder.
