The Quattro W 8.0 Ca we recommended last season returns in the guise of the Alight 8.0 Ca, renamed to fit into an umbrella rebranding of Blizzard’s women’s Frontside collection, part of a company-wide initiative, Women to Women, intended to better differentiate its women’s line. The Alight 8.0 Ca remains a featherweight that punches in the middleweight division, holding a secure, unwavering arc on the hardest artificial snow.
“It carves and holds the edge well, especially on ice,” observes one of Willi’s Divas. “I wish I had a steep groomer to run these on, as they would have been fun. Overall, if I were in the market for a Frontside carver, I’d consider these over the rest of the field; these held the edge a little bit better.”
The Alight 8.0 Carbon uses a short-radius sidecut (13.5m @ 162cm) applied to a double-rockered baseline, although the 4mm of elevation at the tip and tail is relatively modest and is undetectable when rolling edge to edge. Amplifying the skier’s efforts is the IQ binding system that allows the ski to flex unimpinged by a fixed toe and heel. (The binding is included in the price.)
A strong ski with a mellow disposition, the Alight 8.0 Ca is a terrific option for women who whose old carving skis are starting to feel heavier and less responsive with each outing. The Alight 8.0 Ca will prove rejuvenating, putting more spring in your step and glide in your stride.
