Skied from a classic, rearward mounting position, the CT 1.0 comes across as a forgiving, surfy ski with a little extra pep in its step. Most skiers will opt to mount the CT 1.0 in the traditional position, but as a symmetrical twin-tip the CT 1.0 lends itself to the center-mount option for the freestyle aerialist. Our admittedly limited experience of the CT 1.0 in the center-mount position was at best discombobulating, as traditional technique and a forward mounting point mix as well as oil and water. If you’re not already adept at managing a center-mounted ski, stick to the traditional mounting position and you’ll feel right at home.

Switching to center position no doubt presents a variety of airborne opportunities the directional skier isn’t likely to contemplate, but which are mother’s milk to the New School aerialist.   When Old School technique collides with New School, center-mounted skis, the resultant over-steering feels oddly uncontrollable.

All this is moot to the fearless youth who treat the entire mountain as a terrain park. For them, the CT 1.0 is a mainstream model that delivers all they desire.
