The Mythic 97 is a touring ski, a category Realskiers.com doesn’t ordinarily cover for several excellent reasons, not least of which is that we don’t rate skis for how they behave while trudging uphill. If all we cared about was climbing, the Mythic 97 would belong on our short list of skis to consider, but weight reduction to this degree has consequences when you’re heading downhill in manky conditions.

Any ski this light can always be whipped into position, but if trajectory were determined by sidecut alone, the Mythic 97 would stay close to the fall line and be less inclined to sashay cross-hill. This favors the accomplished, but should the skier bare an aggressive streak, any excessive speed will soon be scraped in favor of a more temperate descent.
