K2 has been tinkering with the formula for their All-Mountain West women’s model for several seasons, finally settling on the footprint of the Pinnacle 95 with a core composition that’s part Konic (meaning it uses a swath of foam down the center to trim weight), part Bioflex (Aspen and Paulownia in a women’s blend).
It makes perfect sense for the FulLUVit 95 to pinch the Pinnacle 95’s shape and structure, for the unisex model already has a light, soft-flexing chassis with a big sweet spot, the qualities most advanced women are looking for in an off-trail ski.
True to K2 tradition, the FulLUVit 95 is so simple to steer it’s almost surreal; the ski seems to respond to the power of suggestion, its supple, tapered forebody drifting to an edge that holds an arc like a firm handshake.
A 95mm-waisted ski can feel awfully wide for a dainty demoiselle, but the FulLUVit 95’s doesn’t ski fat. It lacks the fast-twitch muscularity of a carving ski, but in the soft snow where it prefers to roam the FulLUVit is as agile as any ski in its class.
Its focus on ease and maneuverability in the rough and tumble of off-trail conditions disguises the power the FulLUVit holds in reserve. Kelli Gleason, who tears up Telluride when not taking care of business at Boot Doctors, assures us, “it still holds at Mach 9.” For its kindness to women who aren’t looking to crack the Mach scale ceiling, we award the FulLUVit 95 a Silver Skier Selection.
