The properties that make a great off-trail ski, such as lightweight construction, easy steering and the strength to hammer through cut-up snow, are the same criteria that define an ideal women’s model. Women’s All-Mountain West models that mimic unisex designs include Atomic Vantage 95 C W, Dynastar Legend W 96, Rossignol Sky 7 HD W, Salomon QST Lumen 99 and Völkl 90 Eight W.
So K2’s FulLUVit 95 is in excellent company. The FulLUVit 95 is the original Pinnacle 95 with a slight change in the wood used in its Konic core. All the qualities that make the Pinnacle 95 a home-run Finesse model for men apply in spades to the FulLUVit 95. Its primary virtues are mindlessly simply steering, a mild temperament and a sweet spot that seems to run end to end.
“No change this year,” notes Liz Elling of Gravity Sports, “but what an amazing, all-around, versatile ski it still is. Does it all with ease.” Elling was so impressed with the FulLUVit’s ecumenical attitude toward variable snow conditions, she awarded it a near-perfect score. Carolyn from Jan’s calls it, “fast and fun for a ladies’ ski. Got edge to edge quickly in funky old powder.”
As noted last year, a 95mm-waisted ski can feel awfully wide for a dainty demoiselle, but the FulLUVit 95’s doesn’t ski fat. It lacks the fast-twitch muscularity of a carving ski, but in the soft snow where it prefers to roam the FulLUVit is as agile as any ski in its class.
The FulLUVit 95 is so blessedly simple to ski, it’s prowess as a Power ski is often overlooked. It wouldn’t ski off-piste terrain half as well as it does if it didn’t have the guts to kick crud out of the way. There’s enough wood and metal in its make-up to keep the FulLUVit cool as speed get hotter. For its ability to keep a cool head when all about are losing theirs, we again award the FulLUVit 95 a Silver Skier Selection.
