Because they all use Dynastar’s unique and visually distinctive Powerdrive feature, all the top models in the Legend X series appear to be the same ski in four different shapes. Not so. Each aims for a different skier in different circumstances. The Legend X 84 is fairly soft flexing, focusing on ease of use over brute power, making it one of the rare Frontside skis that favors the Finesse skier.
“Very easy to turn and very forgiving,” says Bobo’s Theron Lee. “An excellent value ski, delivering great performance at $599.” Like the Cham series that preceded it, the Legend X series is in most respects an off-trail design, making the Legend X 84 a bit of a duck out of water. Not that the Legend X 84 can’t manage on hard snow, but its 5-point sidecut reduces its effective edge in this condition. This suggests the Legend X 84 might be best suited to a lighter skier who currently spends most of his time on groomers but has every intention of heading off trail when conditions permit.
