The simplicity of the Supernatural 100’s construction contributes to its playful attitude and easy-steering properties. As a cambered, all-glass ski, the Supernatural 100 pops out of the turn even in powder, giving it a lively but controlled rebound that carries the skier into the next turn. It seems like an odd adjective to apply to a ski, but the Supernatural 100 is more comfortable to ski than other skis of equal width. We attribute its ease of operation in part to its more torsionally soft lay-up, allowing a ski this wide to roll up on edge gradually and conform readily to irregular terrain.

[The Supernatural 100 did not change for 2018. The ratings and review here are carried over from last season.]

Line presents itself as a rebellious, youth-driven, New School brand, and indeed it boasts an impressive stable of athletes who seem as comfortable skiing in reverse as forward. The brand’s heritage is in twin-tipped, Pipe and Park models and Big Mountain boards that enable those so inclined to butter off their tips as they launch another precipice.

Concealed behind Line’s devil-may-care attitude is a serious ski maker who manufactures more traditional, cambered, directional models than they do center-mounted twin-tips. Its Supernatural and Sick Day series are actually old-fashioned in their wood and fiberglass constructions, with just a touch of tip and tail rocker to qualify as off-trail tools.

(Note its highest technical score is for Rebound/turn finish, an unusual result that highlights this ski’s special property.)

For its generosity of spirit and lively response to light pressure, we not only recommend the Supernatural 100, we also award it our Silver Skier Selection seal of approval. Or to translate our endorsement into Line-speak, this Supernatural is super-fun!
