K2’s new Mindbender 88 Ti Alliance doesn’t share the same tool as the unisex Mindbender 99 Ti, but it uses an identical construction. The key ingredient in all the Mindbender Ti models, whether for men or women, is slingshot-shaped yoke of Titanal called Y-Beam. The tail section is fashioned in a single slab that doesn’t reach the edge, allowing the rearbody to slightly twist during turn completion. Once past the midsection, the Titanal splits into two forks that run up the sides, directing more force to edge at the start of the turn.
To amplify force underfoot, K2 stacks the midsection with PowerWall, a raised section that concentrates energy where edge hold is most critical. For lighter weight lasses, the extra leverage supplied by PowerWall should give them an energy boost.
