The Pursuit 800 Ti is essentially a slalom ski that’s gone off its diet, plumping up to 71mm underfoot (177cm) and putting a few extra ounces that keep it well grounded. To use a jargon that has since gone out of fashion, the Pursuit 800 Ti is a race carver, a ski with competition chops that doesn’t need a stopwatch to validate its excellence.
“A carving machine,” in the words of The Boot Doctors’ Bob Gleason, “it needs speed to display its capabilities. Prefers groomed, aggressive carving,” he diagnoses. As happens with torsionally stiff skis with deep sidecuts, the Pursuit likes to stick to its routine of cutting consistent trenches on a crisp, responsive snow surface.
