The 2019 version of the QST Lux 92 benefits from Salomon’s across-the-board adoption of C/FX3, which boosts not only the amount of carbon and flax fibers in its many strands, but lays them in the core both longitudinally and transversely. The effect is a significant upgrade in edge grip and sustained snow contact, improving the lightweight QST Lux 92’s performance both on and off groomed runs.
“Fun all-around ski for a 92-wide,” says one of The Sport Loft contingent who felt it “carved well” on groomed trails. Margit Caine, another TSL regular, “wished I could have taken these off piste. I tried to ski the edges of the trails,” she notes wistfully. Its well-tapered tip inhibits early turn initiation, but once on edge the Lux 92 garnered high marks for carving accuracy and turn finish, indications of C/FX3’s effectiveness. If only we could have copped a few more scores on this evidently improved model it would have cracked the Recommended ranks in the crowded All-Mountain East field.
