If the Ranger 92 Ti from Fischer were fed a strict diet of powder and crud, it would be a premier performer.  Put it in the middle of field of wind-affected pow and you’ll grin all the way down. But All-Mountain East models shouldn’t be finicky about their terrain preferences, and the Ranger 92 Ti turns up its nose at hard snow, literally. Even though Fischer reworked this ski’s forebody by segueing from metal to carbon just behind the shovel, the tip remains loose when it doesn’t have deep snow to keep it occupied.

Overall, the three Ranger Ti models in Fischer’s 2020 collection are a significant improvement over previous generations of Rangers. The current design is well conceived and executed for off-trail conditions. As the narrowest in the clan, the Ranger 92 Ti is expected to work equally well on groomers, which is why its scores don’t measure up to those of its wider kin. Fischer already has a floaty, deeply rockered twintip in the Ranger 94 FR; it doesn’t need two smear-sticks in the AME genre.  It’s clear that Fischer’s new management team is paying more attention to its Ranger collection, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see a tweaked 2022 Ranger 92 Ti with better on-piste performance.
