When the BBR was left alone in a locked room with a revolver and one bullet, it did the honorable deed, creating room in the Salomon line for the Rocker2 100.   It may seem uncivil to rejoice in the untimely demise of others, but the new ski is a much better adapted all-terrain tool than the over-touted BBR ever was.  “Invigorating, playful and easy,” gushed Telluride’s Boot Doctor, the irrepressible Bob Gleason. “Quick in and out of turns yet predictable. Dances through bumps. Great ski.” Regarding Gleason’s penultimate encomium, we’ve skied with him on his home turf, and about the only terrain he avoids is anything that’s ever seen a grooming fleet.  So if the Master of the Metatarsals says the Rocker2 100 rocks, he’s not bluffing.

Remember, Gleason cruises groomers with the same frequency that pigs fly. The Rocker2 100 is a soft snow ski, as Winks from Cal Ski Co discovered.  “On hard snow the short edge can really be felt, but as soon as the ski finds [soft] snow, it’s smooth and floaty – the entire ski comes alive.”  For lighter or less aggro skiers the Rocker2 100 serves as, in Winks’ words, “a useful introduction to off-piste skiing.”
