After years of painstaking research, I’ve come to the astonishing conclusion that men and women are different. This probably isn’t the ideal place to present all the evidence that led me to this epiphany, so I’ll limit my remarks to the curious case of the Enforcer 88 and Santa Ana 88, both introduced this year by Nordica. The two models aren’t identical – the Santa Ana uses a lighter Balsa core – but both deploy two sheets of .4mm Titanal and are intended for essentially the same skier type, gender aside.
So how to explain how our male panel was swept off its feet by the Enforcer 88, while our female testers gave the Santa Ana 88 a lukewarm reception? Maybe the gals were expecting more, and registered their disappointment with low marks. Maybe the snow conditions were a bit more gnarly, the light went to all to hell or they didn’t get on it until late in the day. Or is it just one more exhibit in the case of Women v. Men, an ongoing debate that is likely to defy resolution before time itself shall end?
