The new Vision 108 isn’t filling a void in Line’s Big Mountain collection, which is already well stocked with off-trail options like Sir Francis Bacon, Sakana and Sick Day 104, but it does bring something new to the party: super lightweight. Big skis always struggle with a weight problem, so Line made minimizing mass its top priority. The solution was a suite of three fibers – glass, carbon and aramid – that are indeed light, as is typical of carbon-based skis, but also damp (due to the aramid) and responsive (the fiberglass contribution). They love to drift, yet they’re so light it’s relatively easy to tip them into a mid-radius, carved turn.

If you prefer a ski that feels more substantial, Line has oodles of other options, but if you’ve caught the Lighter is Better bug, the Vision 108 might be the lightest ski in the Big Mountain category. If you habitually burn out on a powder day, a switch to a featherweight Vision 108 could add extra vertical to your day. Its lightweight aside, the Vision 108 embodies everything Line stands for: it’s playful, it’s easy, it can be steered from an upright stance or in a pipe-and-park squat. While it’s well-rockered tip will never find an early edge, it manages to feel quick (for a 108) due to its minimalist construction.
