Völkl veterans will remember the Kiku, probably the most ripping powder ski ever made for women. The 108 W shares the waist width of the dearly departed Kiku, but its 3D. Ridge design is substantially lighter and less of a chore to toss around in heavy snow. The addition of 3D.Glass this year makes the 2018 100 Eight W livelier so it comes off the bottom of the turn in powder by itself. Note the modifier, “in powder,” for the 100 Eight W is definitely an off-trail ski.
Just because it can now hold a better edge on hard snow doesn’t transform groomers into its natural habitat. Its fully rockered baseline is preformed in shape that ready to drop directly into two feet of Wasatch fresh. Light enough for lower skill skiers to push around, the 100 Eight W is best appreciated by ladies who already know how to slide side to side in pow.
